How to Express Duration in Spanish
To express duration in Spanish you do not have to use any prepositions.
Please have a look at some examples:
Me voy a la Riviera Maya unas semanas.
I’m going to the Riviera Maya for a few weeks.
¿Has estado tres días enfermo?
Have you been sick for three days? (you=tú)
You can however use por and durante to express duration in Spanish.
In general, durante is used more often in Spanish.
Vamos a estar fuera del país por un mes.
We will be out of the country for a month.
La luz se fue y hemos estado incomunicados durante una semana.
The power went out and we have been cut off for a week.
