present perfect subjunctive

If you are talking about something that is happening in the present or in the future, then you will use the present subjunctive.
However, for past actions, you will use the imperfect subjunctive or the present perfect subjunctive.
Even though this construction is used mostly with the subjunctive, it is also possible to use it in the indicative and retain the same meaning.
The difference is that with the indicative you are focusing more on stating what is happening.

¡Qué mal que se han podrido todos los cultivos!
It’s a pity that all the crops have rotted!
In this example, you are focussing on the fact that the crops have rotted.
