How to Say Not At All In Spanish

To say “not at all” in Spanish you will say “nada de“.

This can be used with infinitives, nouns, and adjectives/adverbs.

Nada de + infinitive

Cuando llegue María, nada de hablar sobre su nuevo trabajo.

When Maria arrives, don’t talk about her new job.

¡Nada de correr por los pasillos! ¡Cuántas veces tengo que decirlo!

No running in the corridors! How many times do I have to say it!

Nada de + nouns

No nos queda nada de comida, tenemos que ir a hacer la compra.

We have no food at all left, we have to go shopping.

Es un hombre muy cabal, pero no entiende nada de política.

He’s a very rational man, but he doesn’t understand politics at all.

No tengo nada de efectivo, ¿puedo pagar con tarjeta?

I don’t have any cash at all, can I pay by card?

Nada + adjectives/adverbs

With adjectives/adverbs there is no “de“.

El licor no me sienta nada bien.

Liquor isn’t good for me at all.

No estaba nada seguro sobre si había actuado correctamente.

He was not at all sure whether he had acted correctly.

Las noticias que llegaban no eran nada positivas.

The news coming in was not at all positive.

If however, this is used with the verb haber or tener, then you can add the “de“.

Que te pregunte por tu mujer no tiene nada de particular.

There is nothing special about him asking you about your wife.

Estas citas no tenían nada de romántico.

There was nothing romantic about these appointments.

No había nada de tristeza en su voz.

There was no sadness in his voice.
