As you can see, poder (to be able to/can) is regular in the imperfect tense.

In every sentence, poder is followed by an infinitive (full verb).
In the imperfect, poder is used to express what you could do in the past at some point.

You could memorise entire texts when you were younger.
Ellos podÃan ver todo lo que pasaba desde su ventana.
They could see everything that was going on from their window.
Ustedes podÃan hablar español, ¿verdad?
You could speak Spanish, right?
