Prepositions With Lo Que in Spanish = For/With/On + What
In Spanish B1 you also learnt about lo que, but then it was used without a preposition.
Lo que with no preposition means “what” or “which”.
In this lesson you will learn about how to use lo que with prepositions (para, con, en, por etc.)
preposition + lo que = for/with/on + what
Here are some examples:
Hemos cometido errores, pero es mejor pensar en lo que hemos hecho bien.
We have made mistakes, but it is better to think about what we have done well.
Con lo que nos hemos esforzado, es una pena que no ganemos el premio.
With all the effort we have put in, it’s a pity we didn’t win the award.
Esto es algo para lo que no tengo explicación.
This is something for which I have no explanation.
Deberíamos hablar de lo que pasó anoche.
We should talk about what happened last night.
María quiere denunciar a David por lo que le hizo a su coche.
Maria wants to report David for what he did to her car.
La juventud está preocupada con lo que está pasando en el país.
The youth is concerned about what is happening in the country.
In Spanish, you cannot place the preposition at the end of a sentence.
In English this is possible, however in Spanish you cannot do this.
