You will use algún and all of its variation to say “some” or “any” in Spanish.
Here are some examples:
¿Tienes algún medicamento para el dolor de cabeza?
Do you have any medicine for headaches?
¿Has visto alguna de sus películas?
Have you seen any of his films?
Ellos tienes algunos libros sobre medicina. Quizá puedes pedírselos.
They have some books on medicine. Maybe you can ask them for them.
Algunas personas pueden ser muy egoístas.
Some people can be very selfish.
Please note that when algún and its variations are used in a question it means any.
Algún and its variations always agree in gender and in number with the nouns that they modify.
In certain affirmative sentences, algún and alguna can also refer to a random person.
Algún idiota ha destrozado las plantas de la entrada.
Some idiot has destroyed the plants at the entrance.
¿Donde está Ana? – Estará en casa de alguna amiga, volverá pronto.
Where is Ana? – She’s probably at some friend’s house, she’ll be back soon.
