The Same in Spanish = Definite Article + Mismo
To say “the same” in Spanish you will say:
- the same = definite article + mismo/misma/mismos/mismas
Gloria se ha comprado el mismo vestido que yo para la cena de empresa.
Gloria bought the same dress as me for the company dinner.
Tienes el mismo color de ojos que tu madre.
You have the same eye colour as your mother.
Todos sus hijos tienen la misma altura.
All their children are the same height.
En Canarias siempre hace la misma temperatura.
In the Canary Islands it is always the same temperature.
Coleccionan los mismos relojes.
They collect the same watches.
Les gustan las mismas gafas de sol.
They like the same sunglasses.
If you want to refer to a neutral idea, then you will use “lo mismo”.
Me da lo mismo lo que la gente piense de mí.
I don’t care what people think of me.
No es lo mismo cocinar tu propia comida que comer fuera.
Cooking your own food is not the same as eating out.
