How to Use Todo in Spanish

Todo in Spanish means all/whole/every.

It tends to be followed by a definite article (el/la/los/las) or a possessive adjective (mi/mis/tu/tus/su/sus/nuestro/nuestra/nuestros/nuestras/vuestro/vuestra/vuestros/vuestras).

This is what that structure would look like:

  • todo/toda/todos/todas + [definite article/possessive adjective] + noun

Todo has to agree with the noun that it refers to.

You will therefore see all 4 variations in action!

Todo + [Definite Article/Possesive Adjective] + Masculine Singular Noun

Todo el mundo quiere ser feliz, pero no es tan fácil.

Everyone wants to be happy, but it’s not that easy.

He perdido todo mi dinero.

I’ve lost all my money.

Toda + [Definite Article/Possesive Adjective] + Feminine Singular Noun

Todos + [Definite Article/Possesive Adjective] + Masculine Plural Noun

All workers have the right to a break.

Todas + [Definite Article/Possesive Adjective] + Feminine Plural Noun

Todas las chicas visten igual hoy en día.

All girls dress the same nowadays.

Ella ignoró todas mis advertencias.

Todo El Mundo = Everyone
