Regular -re Verbs Conjugation Method
This section will show you how regular -re verbs are conjugated in the subjonctif passé.
There is a two step method that will make everything very easy for you.
In order to conjugate verbs that end with -re in the subjonctif passé one must:
- Conjugate avoir in the subjonctif présent
- Add the particip passé
The verb vendre means “to sell” in English.
We will take this verb and conjugate it in the “je” form using the two step method.
The je form of avoir in the subjonctif présent is aie.
The particip passé of vendre is vendu.
So, the je form of choisir in the subjonctif passé is:
que j’aie vendu
Common Regular re Verbs
French has three regular verb groups.
- regular -er verbs
- regular -ir verbs
- regular -re verbs
The regular -re verbs group is the third biggest group. Many French verbs fall in this group.

There is 1 important rule to take into account, when you want to pronounce regular re verbs subjonctif passé conjugations.
- The je, tu, il/elle/on and ils/elles form have the same pronunciation of the verb.
