Every in Spanish = Cada + (Number) + Noun

To say “every” in Spanish you will say:

  • cada + [a time unit as a singular noun]

Please have a look at the following examples:

¿Estudias tú cada día?

Do you study every day?

Voy cada año.

I go every year.

¿Tú hablas francés cada día?

Do you speak French every day?

As you can see, a time unit as a singular noun (día, año) follows after every use of cada.

You can also say:

  • cada + [number] + [a time unit as a plural noun]

Me como un plátano cada 15 horas.

I eat a banana every 15 hours.

As you can see, a number and a time unit as a plural noun (horas) follow after cada.

Every in Spanish = Todos + Los + Noun / Todas + Las + Noun

To say “every” in Spanish you will say:

  • todos + los + [a time unit as a plural noun]
  • todas + las + [a time unit as a plural noun]

Please have a look at the following examples:

Nosotros estudiamos todos los días.

We study every day.

Vamos a Brasil todos los años.

We go to Brazil every year.

Hablo español todos los días.

I speak Spanish every day.

As you can see, a number and a time unit as a singular noun (días, años) follow after todos.

Cada vs Todos/Todas

Cada and todos/todas can be used interchangeably:

Cada año tenemos una gran fiesta.

Every year we have a big party.

Todos los años hacemos una gran fiesta.

Every year we have a big party.

Todos/Todas vs Todo/Toda

Please be aware that there is a difference between todos/todas (plural form) and todo/toda (singular form).

Voy a estar en el centro comercial todo el día.

I am going to be at the shopping mall all day.

Voy a estar en el centro comercial todos los días.

I am going to be at the shopping mall every day.

In the first example you are somewhere for the entirety of the day. This is just 1 day.

In the second example you are somewhere every day. This is all the days.
