We in Spanish = Nosotros

In order to say “we” in Spanish you will say:

  • We = Nosotros [masculine or mixed]
  • We = Nosotras [feminine]

If you are referring to a group in which everyone is male, or there is at least one male, then you will use nosotros.

If you are referring to a group in which there are only women, then you will use nosotras.

Now it may seem pretty simple, but there’s one thing that you should be aware of.

In Spanish you can omit the subject pronouns and use the verb on its own.

Take a look at the following examples:

Nosotros estamos cansados.

We are tired.

Estamos en casa.

We are at home.

Nosotras estamos caminando.

We are walking.

Estamos en la escuela.

We are at school.

All sentences are correct.

However there is a key difference between some sentences.

In some sentences, the subject pronouns nosotros/nosotras (we) are missing.

Because the verb is already conjugated in the we form, people know that you are talking in the we form.

In Spanish, the subject pronouns tend to be omitted.
