le/la/les + plus + [adjectif]the most [adjective] / the [adjective]-est
le/la/les + moins + [adjectif]the least [adjective] / the [adjective]-est

How to use the Superlatives of French Adjectives

You use superlatives to express that something/someone is inferior or superior to something/someone else.

In the table above you can see the superlatives of French adjectives.

C’est le gâteau le moins délicieux.

This is the least delicious cake.

C’est la tarte la moins délicieuse.

This is the least delicous pie.

Ce sont les plats les moins délicieux.

These are the least delicious dishes.

Jean est le plus intelligent.

Jean is the smartest.

Clara est la plus intelligente.

Clara is the smartest.

Jean et Clara sont les plus intelligents.

Jean and Clara are the smartest.

As you can see, both the definite article (le, la, les) and the adjective agree in gender and in number with the noun that they refer to.
