I am [number] years old = Tengo [número] años

In order to say how old you are you would have to say:

  • I am [number] years old = Tengo [número] años

In Spanish you have to use tener (to have) to say how old you are.

In practice it looks like this:

Tengo 20 años.

I am 20 years old.

Yo tengo 25 años.

I am 25 years old.

Tengo 60 años.

I am 60 years old.

Tengo dieciocho años, ¿y tú?

I am eighteen years old, and you?

As you can see it’s very simple.

All you have to do is say “Tengo [age] años” and insert you age.

Please note that you don’t have to say “yo” (I) in Spanish.

It’s fine to omit it.

If you want to ask how old someone else is, then you can say one of the following two things:

¿Cuántos años tienes?

How old are you? [informal]

¿Cuántos años tiene?

How old are you? [formal]

Tienes is in the informal form, and tiene is in the formal usted form.
