To form inverted questions in the passé composé you will use the following construction:

  • (question word) + auxiliary avoir/être + hyphen + je/tu/il/elle/on/nous/vous/ils/elles + past participle

Aije mangé votre déjeuner ?

Did I eat your lunch?

Astu travaillé hier ?

Did you work yesterday?

Sommesnous partis à l’heure ?

Did we leave on time?

Combien de livres avezvous vendus ?

How many books did you sell?

Pourquoi avezvous quitté l’équipe ?

With il/elle + avoir, you will have to add a -t- between avoir (=a) and the pronoun.

  • (question word) + auxiliary avoir + -t- + il/elle + past participle

Qu’a-t-il fait pendant les vacances ?

What did he do during the holidays?

Quelqu’un a-t-il vu Tom partir ?

Did anybody see Tom leave?
